PBJ Team
ObjectivesThis project will deliver a synergistic and holistic assessment of the internal wavefield combining
novel applications of high technology readiness level observing methods with high performance
computations and theory. This team seeks to answer are: ‘How much’? and
‘How do we understand the interplay between the pieces -missing and/or included in the OCMs -
and the end result’? A better understanding of the interplay between the key processes modulating
the internal wave field is the core merit in this project.
Top Level Tasks
Deploy a moored array in the Brazil Basin to quantify near boundary flow distortions due to topography, internal wave breaking, and momentum and
buoyancy fluxes.
Create a regional statistical characterization of the oceanic internal wavefield in the Sub-Tropical South Atlantic.
Compare observed regional characterisation to 5 different models ranging from HYCOM, ROM, LES to a quai-analytical model.
